The Gallery
Every capture you have made, in QuikapStudio — find, open, import, rename, favourite and delete them, with Undo and the Recycle Bin behind every delete.
The Gallery is QuikapStudio's view of everything Quikap has captured: images, panoramas and videos, newest first, grouped by month. Open it with File › Gallery or Ctrl G, or the Gallery button at the left of the toolbar; Esc or Ctrl G again goes back to what you were editing. (Until QuikapStudio 0.3.0 it was called the library, and Ctrl L still opens it.)
Your captures stay where Quikap saved them, in your Pictures\Quikap folder unless you chose another in Quikap's Preferences. QuikapStudio never rewrites a capture's own files: names and favourites are kept beside them, and your edits are kept separately until you export.
Find
- Search by name or by date (
2026-10-14,October). - Filter: All, Images, Videos, Panoramas, or ★ Favourites.
- Sort: newest or oldest first, by name, or by size on disk.
- Thumbnail size: S, M or L. A video's tile shows a frame from it and its length.
- Hover a tile for its name, kind, size and when it was taken.
Open
- Double-click a tile, or select it and press Enter.
- Open in a new window: Ctrl Enter, or the tile's menu (right-click). Whether everything else opens in one window or a window for each capture is your choice in Preferences › General.
- A capture already open in a window is never opened twice: that window comes to the front.
Import
File › Import… (Ctrl I), the Import… button, or drop files onto the Gallery. PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF (its first frame) and WebP images become image captures; MP4 videos become recordings that open in the video editor. Each import is a capture of its own in your captures folder, named after its file. A photo is turned the right way up as its camera recorded. A file that cannot be imported is named, with the reason, and the others go on.
Rename and favourite
- Rename: F2 renames the selected capture in place (Enter keeps the name, Esc cancels); File › Rename… renames the capture you are editing. The name shows in the Gallery, in the title bar, and as the file name when you export. An empty name gives back the capture's date and time.
- Favourite: F, or the star. ★ Favourites shows only those.
Delete
Select one or more captures (Ctrl-click, Shift-click, Ctrl A) and press Delete, or use the tile's menu, or File › Move to the Recycle Bin… for the capture you are editing.
- QuikapStudio asks first (unless you turned that off — the dialog's Don't ask me again, or Preferences › Gallery).
- A window showing the capture lets go of it.
- For about ten seconds Undo puts everything back exactly as it was.
- Then the captures go to Windows' Recycle Bin, from where you can still restore them.
Copy, export and drag out
- Copy (Ctrl C) puts the selected image, with your edits, on the clipboard; for a video, the video file itself (paste it into a folder, a chat or an email).
- Export… writes the image with your edits as PNG or JPEG, or a copy of the video.
- Drag a tile into another program — a chat, a document, an email, a folder — and it receives the image with your edits, named after the capture, or the video file. Drag one of several selected tiles and all of them go.
