What exists today, what is being built, and what has not been started, said plainly and kept current.
In one sentence
Nothing is released. Both programs are at the first milestone, the architecture and compliance foundation, and this site exists ahead of them so that licensing, updates and sign-in are in place when a release is.
What exists
| State | |
|---|---|
| The contracts the two programs share: the control protocol and the artifact manifest schema | written, versioned, generated into both programs, tested on both sides |
| QuikapStudio: the solution, the document model, the protocol library | compiles with every warning an error; the protocol tests pass |
| Quikap: the Rust workspace, the capture and overlay contracts, the protocol framing | compiles and tests in the build pipeline |
| This site: licenses and seats, the update channel, staff sign-in, the downloads page | built and tested, forked from a site that is in production |
| Signed updates: the release key, the signing script, the verifier | in place; a release signed with the key verifies in the editor and on this site |
What is being built, in order
- P0, foundation. Build and test harnesses, dependency and licence gates, a software bill of materials, benchmark and golden-image harnesses, the platform capability matrix.
- P1, still capture on Windows. Hotkeys, the frozen screen, selection, clipboard and save, the first artifacts; QuikapStudio opens them and does crop, arrows, shapes, text, undo and export.
- P2, the editor's core. The tiled canvas, callouts, step badges, magnifier, spotlight, blur, secure redaction, documents saved and loaded.
- P3, recording. Video, system audio, microphone, cursor and click telemetry; trim and split in Studio.
- P4 and P5, panoramas. Stitching from pixels first, then browser- and accessibility-driven scrolling.
- P6, local intelligence. OCR, text selection, smart redaction suggestions: on your computer, with no cloud.
- P7, library and workflow. History, tags, search, hotkey presets, export adapters.
- P8 and P9, macOS and Linux.
- P10, release hardening.
What has not been started
Every item above the line it sits under. In particular: no capture backend exists yet for any platform, no overlay has been drawn, and the editor's canvas is a placeholder. The features page lists the planned features one by one with the same honesty.
How this page is kept true
It is changed in the same commit as the thing it describes. If a sentence here is ahead of the software, that is a fault, and we want to hear about it.
